Love for flower is universal. From the earliest of times their colour, form, variety and fragrance have been greatly appreciated. As flower lovers, we are fortunate Now we are fortunate to find a great variety of flowers and foliage not only because of better transportation systems using advanced scientific research for preservation but also through advances made in floriculture.
Through the years, Pushpa Bitan Friendship Society’s members have devoted their efforts to enrich floral displays to appeal to modern tastes and requirements while following our rich traditions of using flowers and foliage for rituals and decorations. In this exhibition organized by Kusumika School of Floral Art and Pushpa Bitan Friendship Society, we have used new techniques and new stylistic approach to arrange flowers for various occasions infusing modern ideas to enrich floral art too. A floral artist uses, color, shades, natural or artificial material symbolically in the compositions to express a theme in their floral display. There is a certain freedom afforded to Indian floral artists who express their ideas through flowers. In this exhibition our members have presented different types of arrangements to give an idea of the modern trend in floral decoration. In Bengal, Rabindranath Tagore’s music and poems have influenced our art and cultural traditions as seen in the floral art in this exhibition being held in the Academy of Fine Arts.
